Located at the head of Rivers Inlet, on the banks of the Wannock River at the entrance to Owikeno Lake lays Wuikinuvx home to the Wuikinuxv Nation (Oweekeno), and nestled among the cedars of the Great Bear Rainforest, Wuikinuxv Elementary School serves the small, isolated community of Wuikinuxv Village. The dedicated staff at the school deliver the full BC curriculum for grades kindergarten through seven. Due to its unique geographic location, classroom instruction is regularly supplemented with an abundance of outdoor learning opportunities. The school has strong ties to the community and is proud to be able to offer a skilled teacher for the Wuikala language and culture program.
The community is home to roughly 50 people full-time, and is accessible only by boat or plane. Wilderness Air has regularly scheduled flights out of the Port Hardy airport. There is also a water taxi operated out of the village that makes regular trips to Port Hardy
